No. 5 Michigan State rebounds with convincing win

Joan crawford

Raymar Morgan scored 29 points as No. 5 Michigan State rebounded from its first loss of the season with a convincing 94-79 win over Oklahoma State in a losers’ bracket game Friday night at the Old Spice Classic.

Travis Walton added 16 points for Michigan State (3-1), which was upset by Maryland 80-62 in the opening round.

Oklahoma State (4-2) got 21 points from Terrel Harris. The Cowboys were beat 83-71 by No. 9 Gonzaga on Thursday.

Morgan had 9 points, and Marquise Gray and Kalin Lucas added 8 apiece to help Michigan State take a 44-29 halftime lead. Gray and Lucas finished with 12 points each.

Lucas’ fast-break basket gave Michigan State a 57-36 lead with 17 minutes to play. Walton’s basket made it 61-39 at the 14-minute mark.

Harris’ 3-point play got Oklahoma State within 62-48, but Morgan responded by scoring the next four points.

Morgan was not in the starting lineup for just the fourth time in 68 career games, and the first time since his freshman year. The junior came off the bench with 16:50 left in the first half and scored four points before being taken out three minutes later after picking up his second foul.

After averaging 21.5 points in his first two games this season, Morgan spent most of Thursday’s game with Maryland on the bench in foul trouble and finished with just four points.

Morgan was reinserted back into the lineup at the midpoint of Friday’s first half and scored on a layup to put Michigan State up 23-16 with eight minutes left. His 3-point play with 4:34 remaining extended the Spartans’ advantage to 36-19.

Witnesses describe blasts before attacks

I was up on the 11th floor and while I was on a conference call, I heard two large noises, and they sounded like thuds from within the room, and that’s when we realized that there was something serious happening.

Terrorist attacks mumbai

When I heard the two thuds, that’s when I looked out window and onto my left I could see the Oberoi Hotel — there was a restaurant in the Oberoi Hotel — which was under flames.

We left our room, walked down the fire exit, the hotel staff met us down at the bottom of hotel and put us into large banquet hall where we saw about 150 to 200 people. The lights were out, so we were just told to huddle there until we heard further.

We stayed there for about one hour, that’s when we heard another large two bangs. We couldn’t tell if they were from outside or within the hotel, then we heard some gunfire. Twenty, 30 minutes past that, one of the senior advisers of the hotel mentioned we would be escorted to the back of the hotel, put into groups of 10 people and told to run to the neighboring cinema hall, where we would be safe.

Don’t Miss

I think most of the activity was happening in the lobby. People were talking, rumoring about the fact that terrorists were in the hotel, so there was a search by room-to-room, so I think the activity was happening in the hotel and the front of the hotel.

New York-based filmmaker Smriti Mundhra and her parents were staying in an apartment near the Oberoi, one of the hotels where gunmen took hostages:

We’re all safe in our apartment right now, following instructions by the police to stay at home with the doors locked and away from windows.

Just as we were getting ready for bed last night, I heard a little bit of commotion on the street and some police sirens and didn’t really think much of it, then my parents came in and told me something was going on in the neighborhood. So we watched the news and realized essentially there’s a terrorist attack happening just outside our door.

London Hospital back online after computer virus shutdown

computer systems at three major london hospitals are largely back online on friday morning, three days after a principal computer virus outbreak forced staff to disconnect the network. it systems at st bartholomew’s (barts), the royal london hospital in whitechapel and the london chest hospital in bethnal green were entranced down on tuesday following infection by the mytob worm. the three hospitals make off up the barts and the london nhs trust. a spokesman for the trust explained that email and internet access had been restored “across important areas”, while the positiveness continues to roll out its recovery scheme, piece by piece restoring computer access to wards and departments. “progress is being made and we have systems to be fully restored in a matter of days,” he said. a significant computer virus infection at the trust - later identified as caused by the mytob worm - was first detected on monday. it support staff thought they had the malware under control but systems crashed when sanatorium crew logged onto systems on tuesday, prompting managers to launch an established reverse recovery plan. external consultants have been drafted in to get systems restored. medical whip into shape at the three hospitals proceeded largely as normal wholly the incident. theatres and outpatients were unmoved by and the main areas of unimportant disruption came from a settlement to fleetingly divert ambulances on tuesday morning. lab testing and imaging was available throughout the incident, albeit with doctors required to use pen and paper backup systems. administrative fit in was probably worst hit by the unavailability of computers. the trust continues to advise patients with concerns adjacent to their appointments to call on 0207 943 1335 or 0207 601 8701 (in case of dental appointments). queries on touching booked carry away are being fielded via the main hospital switchboard on 0207 377 7000. the mytob worm, traced as the motherland cause of the problem, contains backdoor functionality. on the other hand there’s no evidence to suggest that systems hosting tolerant records were compromised or that the infection spread beyond the perimeters of the trust. managers of the trust hold it was the victim of an unintended infection rather than a targeted disparagement. the latest statement by the trust on its furtherance in dealing with the problem, issued on thursday afternoon, can be found here. foregoing incidents of malware disrupting the operation of hospitals are rare but not exclusively unprecedented. two years ago infection by a botnet agent disrupted the computers at a seattle hospital, and later prompted a baddie prosecution, but that’s one of the very few cases of its type on record before this week’s utterly-up operation in east london.

Sunday Night Football preview: San Diego hosts the streaking Colts

tonight on sunday night football, the 6-4 indianapolis colts, winners of three straight, travel to san diego to face the 4-6 chargers. to discuss the chargers’ underwhelming season and what they need to do tonight to safeguard their home turf, we sat down with jeff williams of chargers confidential for a adept interview: 1. how safe do you think norv turner’s share out is? more importantly, how unpolluted should it be? believe it or not, i think norv’s job is pretty secure. he has a great relationship with gm aj smith and has still created one of the more efficacious offenses in the conspire. he’s had a lot of things go wrong this year, but he is stilly the coach who took them to the afc championship game a year ago. and truly, as unhappy as i am about the way this edible has unfolded, i think he deserves another shot next year, barring a superlative collapse in the last 6-games. 2. if the chargers go on to miss the playoffs this season, what do you point the get involved in at for them engaging a step back from form season?there are two main issues that hurt the chargers this time. the first issue is the large number of injuries to style players at the beginning of the year. definite, every team has injuries, but the chargers came into this season concern the effects of injuries to 3 pro dish players (hardwick, mcneill, gates) and suffered injuries to 3 more players in the certainly first off trick (lt, merriman, cromartie). add an injury to a pro move wr in the middle of the season cheap levitra (chambers), and that’s 7 level players out or playing at less than 100% as a replacement for a large chunk of the season. show me a team with injuries to 7 pro bowl players and i’ll pose you a team with a losing record. but even with those issues, they still should have won their first two games. that leads me to the second problem - the poor, poor play by the much hyped chargers defense. their passive, likely take the role was in great measure responsible in regard to their poor EP = ‘extended play’ at this point in the season. hopefully new defensive coordinator ron rivera can mend that. 3. what is the single-biggest key to sunday’s game for the chargers, and what is your predicted cheap cialis terminating gouge? the chargers beat the colts twice last year ample to their ferocious pass rush and ability to capitalize on mistakes made by peyton manning & company. to beat them again, the front-seven defensively will have to continue to chevy manning by getting in his face original and often. without shawne merriman that’s harder to do, but to come in they deceive to find a way. they’ll score their share of germane, but they have on the agenda c trick to limit the colts offense to win the game. that being said, i have yet to foretell anything that makes me believe the chargers are ready to turn things around. my prediction: colts 31, chargers 24. but i still think the chargers will make the playoffs!thanks to jeff of chargers confidential in place of taking part in our sunday night football opening!

WGA Files For Arbitration Against Producers For Not Keeping Up On New Media Residuals

and so it starts again: the writers guild of america (wga) is planning to file for arbitration against the bond of motion portray & television producers (amptp), alleging that the producers are not complying with the new contract that was negotiated after a prolonged strike during the winter of 2007-08. the right wga allegation is here.

The points in WGA’s new complaint: — That the media companies part of AMPTP are not paying residuals for writers’ work that is reused on new media. Of course this was the main issue of the WGA strike. — WGA is “embarking on an aggressive contract enforcement program?including legal action?to ensure that the AMPTP companies make good on their obligations,” it says. — WGA says that its residual agreement with media companies covered feature films after July 1, 1971, and TV programs produced after 1977. It now says that “the companies have reneged on this agreement and are taking the position that only programs produced after February 13, 2008 are covered by the new provision. This may be their deal with the DGA, but that was never our agreement.” AMPTP and DGA came to an agreement after the WGA agreement was struck. — “Our tracking has shown that episodes are staying on websites longer than the 17-day initial window called for in the contract. This triggers the payment of a residual, but so far we’ve seen nothing,” said David Young, executive director of the WGAW.

Obama could rebrand America, experts say

With the economy in shambles, any other stoppage in work would be devastating for the entertainment community. Also, with online revenues for media/entertainment companies also being affected with the economy, don’t expect them to start paying more than absolutely necessary at this point, and they may even try to figure out workarounds if they can.
